ABOUT IV SEASONS SKIN CARE
IV Seasons Skin Care Clinic is a medically oriented skin care facility under the guidance of the Boulder, Colorado, cosmetic plastic surgeons Dr. Hans R. Kuisle and Dr. Winfield Hartley. Dr. Kuisle and Dr. Hartley have made the goal of the IV Seasons Skin Care Clinic to provide patients with a comprehensive and individually designed medical skin care program. Programs are tailored to skin type, lifestyle and degree of sun damage. They also compliment and enhance each patients surgical choices. The paramedical estheticians at IV Seasons, under Dr. Kuisle's and Dr. Hartley s supervision, offer a broad selection of BioMedic chemical peels and topical skin care products, Obagi Blue Peels and Nuderm products, Dr. Perricones line of High Potency Alpha Lipoic acid based products, other topical antioxidents, and the most effective sunblocks available. IV Seasons provides prescription pharmaceutical skin care formulations, as well as pre and post operative care for laser, deep chemical peels and dermabrasion skin resurfacing.
Paramedical Aesthetician
General aestheticians are trained in skin care and are licensed by the State of Colorado. Paramedical aestheticians, an invaluable part of Dr. Kuisles and Dr. Hartley's practice, have significantly more advanced training and experience in the medical aspects of skin and skin treatments. Paramedical aestheticians evaluate skin conditions and perform superficial and medium depth chemical peels for sun damaged and aging skin. They are involved in the pre-operative preparation for laser facial resurfacing, as well as immediate and long term post operative care. Prescription drugs are frequently added to individualize skin care regimes to maximize the skins health and outward appearance.

Mission Statement
To provide our patients with the most effective, medically directed skin rejuvenation given by highly trained, experienced, committed, and empathetic skin care professionals.
Goal
At IV Seasons Skin Care Clinic, our goal is to restore skin health. Young healthy skin has a very high cell turnover. Progressive, cumulative exposure to damaging UVA/UVB rays of the sun causes a slowing of cell turnover, loss of skin elasticity, roughness, fine and deep lines, as well as blotchy, irregular brown pigment. Sun exposure, stress and hormonal fluctuations all affect skin adversely. Our goal is to help you manage these variables to maximize skin health.
Principles of Skin Care
Adherence to basic principles of skin care, taking into account the many variables, individual desires, and tolerances, allows IV Seasons Skin Care Clinic to meet the needs of a wide spectrum of patients. Those principles include cleansing, moisturizing, protecting and rejuvenating the skin.
The key to skin rejuvenation is to stimulate exfoliation. Unhealthy, photodamaged skin is sluggish with poor cell turnover. Stimulating cell turnover physically with particle resurfacing, dermaplaning, or enzymes; or chemically with alpha hydroxy acids, and Retin-A, are synergistic in re-establishing skin health.
Beauty and a positive self image begin with a program of comprehensive health care and wellness. It is the responsibility of the individual as well as professionals involved in any area of beauty management to assure good general health before concentrating on aesthetics. Nutrition, regular exercise, vitamin supplements and holistic health principles are important concepts in maintaining general health as well as skin health. Healthy skin is beautiful skin.
Specific tissues or structures sometimes produce a visual form which is less than optimal and cannot be adequately improved by the methods above. Plastic surgical improvement in tissue form and structure is an important component of a comprehensive health and beauty management plan. Creation of a sculpture or work of art requires high quality raw material. Visualization and molding of the structure or form create a subtle yet striking finish giving it life and beauty. In living beauty, healthy skin is the raw material, plastic surgery the molding form, and hair design, cosmetics, and wardrobe the finish.
The Truth About Skin Exposure
- Sun exposure is the number one cause of premature aging and skin cancer. The best way to prevent sun damage is to stay out of the sun.
- Sunscreen should be worn everyday, not just when sunbathing. Hour for hour most people receive more sun damage going to work, walking outside, and sitting by the window than basking in the sun.
- It is best not to go in the sun between 10:00am and 3:00pm.
- Sunscreen should be applied 30 minutes before sun exposure.
- Reapply sunscreen often if you are in direct sunlight. Although sunscreen applications are not cumulative (two applications of SPF-15 does not make an SPF-30), reapply protection to the areas that may have rinsed off due to sweating or water exposure.
- Consider using a self-tanner instead of sun tanning. Remember that a tan produced by a self tanning product provides no additional resistance to sun burning!
- A tanning booth is not a safe alternative! They use UVA rays that promote long-term damage, skin cancer, and cause premature aging.
The sun is the #1 enemy of the skin! Prevent aging and skin cancer--WEAR YOUR SUNSCREEN!
