NON-ABLATIVE
REJUVENATION (NAR)
Non-Ablative Skin Rejuvenation is a non-surgical process that gives
significant improvement in mild to moderate skin lines by combining
gentle light laser
treatments with Particle Skin Resurfacing (PSR). This combination of modalities
gives more significant improvement in the skin, but still with minimal
downtime and without concern of immediate post treatment appearance of
one’s face in public. Improvement in the skin has been demonstrated
both in the epidermis as well as the deeper dermal layers on histiologic
studies. The results of Non-Ablative Rejuvenation procedures are much more
subtle and gradual than those obtained with ablative procedures such as
the Carbon Dioxide or Erbium Lasers. Non-Ablative Skin Rejuvenation aims
to bypass the injury to the epidermis while stimulating collagen remodeling
with dermal heating, as well as significantly improving red vessels and
lesions. Achieving a satisfactory result with Non-Ablative Skin Rejuvenation
requires a series of at least 4 laser treatments delivered at monthly intervals.
These laser treatments combined with Particle Skin Resurfacing, require
strict treatment intervals to achieve maximum improvement. Average improvement
anticipated is 40-50%, and is optimal at 3-4 months following the last
treatment. With any laser therapy there is a possibility for adverse effects,
although they are rare. Following laser treatment, the area may continue
to sting slightly or feel warm like a sunburn for a few hours or days.
Applying ice packs to treated areas can alleviate any discomfort experienced
following the procedure. The usual treatment session lasts 15-20 minutes.
